Starting at 10 a.m. til 11 p.m.

Townsend celebrates mountain culture, including bluegrass
music, Appalachian arts and crafts demonstrations, storytelling
and the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Musicians are welcome to come out and pick and strum around
the visitors center's front and side porches.

During the festival, some of the area's finest talents share
music with guests. It's a great time to kick up your heels and
take in the fall beauty of the mountains.

Throughout the day on Friday, there are arts and crafts
demonstrations, bluegrass music, writers' tent, cakewalks, bake
sale, Appalachian skill demonstrations, and a scarecrow auction.
Scarecrows are made by elementary school classes and auctioned
off to raise money. On Saturday and same activities are
scheduled along with mountain storytelling on the front lawn,
a pie eating contest and an antique tractor and engine show.
Bluegrass bands are welcome to stop by and jam.
