- Autumn is an awesome time in the Smoky Mountains. The leaves change to brilliant colors of red, orange, and yellow. The crisp mountain air is invigorating as you take a stroll through the forest or hike a mountain trail. Fall is a good time for horseback riding or bicycling through the beautiful Smokies.
