Great Smoky Art & Crafts Community - Gatlinburg - Since its inception in 1937 with the Village Craft Shop, the Great Smoky Art & Crafts Community has grown to encompass more than 70 studios, galleries and shops in its specially-zoned loop located three miles east of Gatlinburg along Glades Road, Buckhorn Road, East Parkway (Route 321) and adjacent byways. It is the nation's largest such concentration of independent artists, artisans and crafters. The wide variety of art and crafts includes pottery, hand-made brooms, candles, wood carvings and wood works, fine art and sculptures, lamps and lampshades, lacquered dough crafts and leather goods.
